Summer Club is an exclusive club which invites children between 4-12 years of age to experience a variety of activities and interact with peers in a productive way. Our educators take the time to bond and observe the children to identify their interests.
Unlike most summer programs, Mini-Skool Summer Club creates a ‘camp’ like atmosphere while maintaining a safe and fully licensed setting.
Qualified Early Childhood Educators oversee the Summer Club and are actively involved in ongoing workshops to create an environment that promotes a sense of belonging, well-being, engagement and expression.
At the end of each Summer, children are encouraged to complete a survey which allows for feedback and input into future Summer Club planning.
We are a licensed Ontario child care centre providing daycare for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, junior and senior kindergarten and school-age children. We have two school-age child care programs: one at our main child care facility, and a satellite program at Charles Howitt Public School.
Our before and after school program serves children from JK to six who attend the following schools: Adrienne Clarkson Public School, Charles Howitt Public School, Roselawn Public School, Ross Doan Public School, St. Anne Catholic Elementary School and St. Charles Garnier Catholic School. For families who are moving or wish to help friends and family find the Mini-Skool center nearest to them, use Mini-Skool’s school finder. It is a fast and easy way to find the closest Mini-Skool center.
We are a purpose-built child care facility with five playgrounds (one for infants only, and two are used exclusively for toddlers.) We have one large playground for our three to four-year-olds with a water play helicopter, sandboxes, a huge bike path, shady areas and open space to run and play.
We offer an excellent early childhood education program for our three-year-olds, over and above our unique curriculum which incorporates components of play-based learning and emergent curriculum. Our junior and senior kindergarten program is strongly based on the Jolly Phonics phonetic system. You will be amazed when your four-year-old shows you how he/she can read. Math is also a big part of our kindergarten curriculum which provides a solid foundation for grade one.
All aspects of early childhood development are encouraged through hands-on learning experiences which are planned based on observations of children’s interests.
A huge advantage of Mini-Skool child care centres is our ability to incorporate the academics into our unique curriculum, low teacher-to-child ratios, and small group sizes. Neighboring schools have told us that they are able to identify the Mini-Skool children when they begin grade one due to their academic abilities and general knowledge base.
To enhance our curriculum, and because everyone leads very busy lives, we offer a 4-Sport program offered by TenTen sports, Stretch-N-Grow which offers a fitness and nutrition classes and we have yoga classes. Our parents are happy that their children are allowed to experience extracurricular activities at Mini-Skool, allowing them to have their evenings and weekends free for much-needed family time.
